Time flies and its been a good few years since Tern released its GSD (the 2nd gen landed five years ago) and now the brand has released its third generation GSD Cargo Bike.
Pitched as a compact yet powerful family cargo bike designed to carry two passengers, it’s also easy to ride, store and share. The original GSD was something of a cargo bike category pioneer, and Tern has aimed to raise the bar again with what it said is best-in-class hauling capacity, patented folding side deck and Bosch Smart System features like ABS braking, GPS tracking, and eBike Alarm. It’s also DIN 79010 tested. “What’s new? Everything.”
“What’s new?” asked Joshua Hon, Tern Team Captain. “Everything. Pretty much every aspect of the bike has been redesigned to work better. From big improvements like handling when heavily loaded to small details like how much effort it takes to get the bike up on the kickstand or how seatpost levers are easier for small hands to operate, the new GSD is just better.”
The new GSD is stronger and sturdier, with what Tern said is a best-in-class 210 kg (463 lb) Max Gross Vehicle Weight, certified by DIN 79010 testing. The reinforced Atlas Lockstand supports up to 100 kg (221 lb), ensuring rock-solid parking for safer loading and unloading.
