CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – The City of Charlottesville is making it easier for members of the community to own e-bikes by offering $1,000 vouchers to 25 people.
For some, getting around Charlottesville might be a little easier now.
“They’re really there to try and make e-bikes more accessible transportation options for people in the city,” Charlottesville Climate Program Specialist Tray Biasiolli said.
The goal is to cut costs, reduce emissions, and make biking a more practical option.
“Charlottesville is a compact city so bikes can be really useful, but the terrain and the climate can make it very challenging, e-bikes really solve a lot of those problems,” Biasiolli said.
E-bikes can help riders go further and faster, with less effort.
Biasiolli says the program could ease traffic, reduce parking demand, and provide a cheaper alternative to owning a car.For many, it’s not just about transportation— it’s about independence.“It really is a joyful experience for a lot of people and just being able to seek people out and enjoying getting around town is a great thing,” Biasiolli said. The entry period will be from April 1-30.You must be 18 years or older to enter. For more details on how to enter, you can click here.
