Organizers report that the nonprofit Lost Sierra Mountain Bike Team is gearing up for its 2025 season, which begins March 24 and ends June 28. The team is open to all Plumas County students in grades six through 12. The team can provide bikes, equipment and transportation support as needed. All skill and experience levels are welcome, from complete bicycle beginner to advanced racer.
Those who want to try out mountain biking or learn more about the team are invited to participate in a girls only ride March 10 and/or a ride open to everyone March 11. Both rides last from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Quincy Community Bike Park.
To sign up, the rider and parent/guardian must attend a signup meeting, set for 5 p.m. at the following dates and locations: March 17, Portola Memorial Hall
March 18, Indian Valley Academy library in Greenville
March 20, Quincy Veteran’s Hall
The team practices Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. at different trailheads throughout the season. At least one day per week is based out of Quincy. Racing is optional; however, coaches report there are multiple opportunities to compete in regional cross-country mountain bike races throughout the season.
