It’s not often we have to replace a thru axle, but Wheels Manufacturing’s new axles offer a compelling option when the time comes.
They feature 5mm hex slots on both ends, so you can tighten or loosen them from either side of the bike. They’re designed and machined from 7075 alloy in Colorado, then hard anodized for durability. The non-drive sides use a captured washer to protect your bike when tightening them. Those matching bit holes make the perfect port for their anodized end caps, too. Available in eight colors, the colored plugs let you add bling while also streamlining the look of your bike. Each pair of caps runs $8.95, you’ll need two sets to cover front and rear.
The thru axles come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes to fit almost any bike and fork, including: Front and Rear
12mm and 15mm diameters
Flat and Conical washers
1.0 and 1.5 thread pitches
160/162/164/166/168/172/175/176/180mm rear axle lengths 120/125/148/155/158mm front axle lengths Keep in mind, the actual axle length is longer than your hub spacing, measure the axle that came on your bike and check the thread pitch numbers that should be etched on it to make sure you get a compatible axle to match the threads on your frame or fork. All axles are $37.95 each.
