Kaden Groves won the fifth stage of the 2023 Vuelta a España after a duel with Filippo Ganna. After 186 kilometres to Burriana, the Australian of Alpecin-Deceuninck was the fastest for the second day in a row. Dries Van Gestel took third place behind Ganna. The red jersey stays with Remco Evenepoel, who won the only intermediate sprint to add some seconds to his GC lead. The day’s only mountain challenge will take place 50 kilometres from the finish-line. Although escapes are possible, they may not necessarily take place within the first week of racing.
