Cyclists in Brooklyn raised money for domestic violence survivors and Ukrainian refugees with a Valentine’s Day-themed charity ride on Sunday.
The event, called Cranksgiving, featured a scavenger hunt with landmarks and checkpoints.
The first stop was the Aura Cafe in Prosect Park, where the cyclists were challenged to sing a love song and drop off donated items. Then, they tossed candy into a container in Cobble Hill before reaching the finish line in Gowanus.
Cyclists who participated collected money and items for the Jewish Community House in Bensonhurst.
“We chose them because they’re doing good work,” said Cranksgiving organizer Cassandra Brooklyn. "They’re serving women and families of victims of domestic violence. People who just had babies and are suffering from post-partum and any sort of refugee. They’re serving about 300 Ukrainian refugees right now.”
