The Midlands bike manufacturer Stanton Bikes has brought in administrators and is now up for sale.

Employing 11, the bike brand is to attempt to remain trading under the joint administration Dean Nelson and Nick Lee of business recovery and insolvency partners PKF Smith Cooper.

The brand came to be sold both domestically and internationally and was best known for the design, manufacture and sale of both hardtail and full suspension bike frames.

With supply chain turbulence making life particularly difficult for small, independent outfits and cost of living headwinds, the news comes on the back of what appeared to be a settled period. In a 2021 interview with Singletrack , Founder Dan Stanton was upbeat about improvements in the rate of supply and in many cases 48 turnaround for most stock products.

Dean Nelson, Business Recovery and Insolvency Partner at PKF Smith Cooper, commented: “We will be providing creditors with relevant information regarding the administration process to allow them to participate in proceedings. We are currently dealing with all enquiries. We will strive to achieve the best outcome for everyone involved at this difficult time.”

The administrator writes: Should the Stanton Bikes business be of interest to you, please do not hesitate to contact the Joint Administrators by calling 01332 332021, or emailing kieran.marshall@pkfsmithcooper.com .

The news quickly follows another UK manufacturer’s demise; the wind up of cargo trikes and pedicabs maker Cycles Maximus.
