The alloy Transition Patrol got a new 160mm travel, mixed wheel design in 2021, and now they’re giving their big-mountain bike a carbon fiber frame option.

Designed to be stiffer so you can get rowdier, it also drops a massive 2.8lbs off the alloy frame’s weight. It keeps the geometry flip chips and size-specific chainstay lengths, simply making it a lighter, stiffer version of the bike. The Patrol Carbon (and alloy) uses a 27.5″ rear wheel with a 29er front. It’s compatible with 160-170mm forks, including double-crown forks, and they say you can even down-spec it to a 150mm fork if you wanted.

The bike’s 160mm rear wheel travel is supplied with a custom-tuned air shock, but it’s compatible with coil shocks, too.

Claimed frame weight, with shock for size medium is 7.4lbs (3.36kg), versus 10.2lb (4.63kg) for the alloy frame. They’ll be sold as framesets first, starting this fall, with a GX Eagle-spec’d complete bike following later this year. Available in Bonfire Red and Moonshadow, price TBA.
