Matt Lighter, one of the solo riders, completed the first lap in 30 minutes. Each lap was seven miles and the riders participated in the race for six hours. The Kid’s Mountain Bike races began at 9 a.m. and will continue until 1 p.m. From noon until 5 p.m. there will be potluck food and beverages. The weekend long event will conclude with a poker run — mountain bike and running courses from 2-5 p.m.

The Trail Fest began Friday evening when tents, campers and mountain bikes of all shapes and sizes invaded Hauth Trailhead.

The two-day event kicked off Saturday morning with a Winona Lake Trail Run 5K event. A course was been set up for a kid’s mountain bike skill clinic. The clinics were held at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. An obstacle course was also set up for the kids to ride or work on improving their course times.

The clinic and obstacle course was hosted by The Trail Blazers.
