The moment it all went wrong for Decoba-ASO Quetzaltenango The general classification winner at the Vuelta a Guatemala didn’t get the finish line photo he’d hoped for when his team crashed into each other whilst celebrating just before the finish line of the tenth and final stage of this year’s race.

The riders for Toc’s team, Decoba-ASO Quetzaltenango, lined up to ride the final metres of the course arm in arm, when one of his teammates lost balance, and sent his bike careering into the others.

Four of the five riders fell, although, thankfully, Toc had enough momentum during the crash to slide through the finish line and take the overall victory at the race.

This was the biggest victory of Guatemalan Gerson Toc’s career, with the home rider finishing a convincing 1:42 ahead of his next rival, Ecuadorian rider Byron Guamá of Movistar – Best PC.

The clip of the crash has racked up 439k views on X (formerly Twitter), making this the most effective promotion for the race that the Vuelta a Guatemala has yet received.
