A three-day road cycling championship with an aim to promote healthy activities and creating awareness of reducing carbon emissions and climate change, concluded in the federal capital on Sunday.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration jointly organised this cycling event in collaboration with Islamabad Cycling Association and Pakistan Cycling Federation.
Various teams representing Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Islamabad as well as teams from Pakistan Army, Crank Addicts, Baikistan and Falcon Triathlon Club participated in this one-of-a-kind of “National Road Cycling Individual Time Trials" event.
According to the ICT spokesperson, more than 102 cyclists participated in the event including several foreign nationals. The event comprised of nine different categories where Abid Siddiqui (belonging to Pakistan Army) scored the 1st position in the category called ‘Elite Position’ while Ali Ilyas from Baikistan and Nabi Lilla from KPK got the 2nd and the 3rd positions respectively. In another category known as ‘Elite Over All’ Shah Wali scored 1st, Shabbir scored 2nd whereas Mohammad Bilal scored 3rd position. In the category ‘Women Elite stage three’ Bisma stood 1st, Zainab stood 2nd while Zara stood 3rd. Moreover, in the category ‘Masters stage 3’ Daniel Claus won the 1st position, Abdul Wahab stood 2nd whereas Umer Sulhan stood 3rd. In the category ‘Men Masters over all’ Daniel stood 1st, Juri stood 2nd whereas Shah Wali from Pakistan Army stood 3rd.
