Concord Pacific announced plans for the next phase of its huge Brentwood development that will be called Oasis. As Burnaby detached houses become more and more affordable – the benchmark price has now hit $2 million – people are looking at condos to spend their money.

And the reasoning seems to be a good one, at least to me.

Owning a house means constant maintenance and upkeep, something that at my age – 53 – isn’t that appetizing.

But a different lure these days is the incredible effort to add sick amenities that mean you don’t have to give up comfort by moving into highrise.

Concord Pacific in Burnaby unveiled last summer what it calls the “world’s largest and most comprehensive bike amenity ever planned for a condo development.”

Once built, Concord Metrotown will be home to a more than 50,000-square-foot accessible facility that will house multiple areas just for cycling fans, including a dedicated elevator just for cyclists to transport their bikes.There will also be a gear room stocked with enough tools to make Tony Stark proud so cyclists can repair and maintain their bikes, and an indoor bike loop so cyclists can pedal and get exercise if the weather is bad.
