Get New York, and America, to work. (Scott Olson/Getty Images) New York City is America’s economic engine. And right now, we’re doing everything we can to get that engine running at full speed. Right before the pandemic hit, New York City hit record job levels and working families benefited across the board. Not only will we reach those record heights again; we’ll surpass them and drive a recovery for all of us. That recovery will do more than touch every neighborhood and every borough. With America’s economic capital running at full throttle, it will drive economic growth across the country.

The American Jobs Plan, announced by the White House this spring, kick-starts our clean energy future and put Americans back to work. It also invests in transit, shores up our physical infrastructure, keeps Americans safe on the streets and modernizes our rail system.

It revs our economic engine and charts a path forward for a greener, more modern economy with millions of good-paying jobs.

As the millions of New Yorkers who commute on subways and buses already know, mass transit is the present and future of New York City. When it works, these systems take cars off our streets and give families affordable, convenient ways to move around the city.
