Did you all note that all those jackets were $175 or more? Do any of you realize there is no such thing as a waterproof breathable jacket? No, that’s just marketing hype. If a jacket was truly waterproof you would get soaking wet from your won sweat! As it is with a breathable water RESISTANT not proof, jacket you will find yourself sweating if you do a full on effort. All I do is use a Showers Pass lowest costing jacket Syncline jacket, it retails for $145 but I paid $112, mine came with a helmet hood, the newer version for some reason does not.
I had an expensive $300 GoreTex jacket once, it got destroyed in a bike accident, but it was not waterproof, though they tried, plus I sweated like crazy in it, and it wasn’t warm by itself so you have to layer up. I found little difference between the one I have now and the the $300 one I had, in fact the one I have now is a bit more comfortable when worn alone without layering in warmer rides; but in the cold either one I had to layer up with, and once you do all of that sweat cannot escape, and you will get cold and clammy. I’ve talked to a lot of riders where I live in NE Indiana, and they all report the same problems I have and they also use expensive gear from various manufactures.
