Clarence Council has approved a development application to upgrade the Bellerive ferry terminal, which includes secure, undercover bike parking.
Electronic bike parking docks will be placed in an enclosed building next to the ferry wharf. There will also be some standard hoops for people who don’t want to use the secure docks.
These kinds of docks are used frequently throughout New Zealand and in some European and North American cities and are popping up in Australia in Perth, Sydney and on the Gold Coast. Transport Minister Eric Abetz says he has an open mind about introducing 30km/h speed limits in school zones.
Mr Abetz made the comments while launching this year’s 40km/h school zone awareness campaign.
The evidence is clear that 30km/h speed limits could reduce the number of children who suffer serious injury or death. 30km/h is the recognised speed limit around the world for areas with high numbers of vulnerable road users, including children. Dial Range improvements for MTBers Central Coast Council has started work on new toilets and a servicing and washdown station for mountain bikes using the Dial Range.
