USA Today Network Good news for those of you who use a bicycle to get around town: Rockford is the safest city in Illinois for bicyclists.
That’s according to a new survey done by Cherry Digital.
The survey asked 3,000 cyclists to rate how safe or unsafe they feel during their daily commutes. Cyclists rated their experiences on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 indicated feeling the safest.
The survey revealed Rockford as the 60th safest city in the country for cyclists, and the safest city in the state.
Rockford’s score was a 7.3 out of 10, just edging out Aurora, Illinois, which received a 7 out of 10.
"The city has a growing cycling community that is committed to making Rockford a safe and welcoming place for cyclists. This community advocates for better cycling infrastructure and education," the survey said.
