Kalyan: Steps will be taken by the twin cities of Kalyan and Dombivli to make the city more friendly for cyclists. There has only been one cycle track in the cities to date. But for the last several years there has been a demand for more cycle tracks.

A meeting will be held between the civic commissioner and cyclist associations to promote the use of bicycles among the citizens. The civic commissioner will ask the cyclist associations about their requirements and the same would be implemented in the city under the ‘My City Fit City’ initiative in the coming days, reported Hindustan Times .

There are active cyclist groups in Kalyan and Dombivli. Regular cycling events are conducted by these groups but there is a lack of proper facilities. In order to have better facilities like cycling tracks in promoting the use of bicycles these groups had approached the civic body.

Ahead of the meeting, Adwait Jadhav, founder, Kalyan Cyclist Group said that for people to ride cycles the city needs to have cycle tracks in various locations. No amenities are available for the cyclists even though the group has around 2,000 cyclists. He said that they will put the demands in front of the civic body. They will also ask the civic body to maintain the cycle track with the involvement of the cyclist association.
