Here’s one of the strangest (cycling related, anyway) press releases we’ve seen in a while: SRAM has partnered with the New York Yacht Club American Magic team in their effort to win the 2024 America’s Cup race.
Details are not yet revealed, but they tease that SRAM will provide in-boat technologies and that the crew has been testing them. I mean, Shimano makes fishing gear, so… PRESS RELEASE: SRAM, the world’s most innovative bicycle component manufacturer, announced a partnership with the New York Yacht Club American Magic racing team in their bid to win the 37th America’s Cup.
“This is an amazing opportunity to not only demonstrate our products and technologies in a new and unique way but be a part of one of the most historic and viewed sporting events in the world,” said SRAM CEO Ken Lousberg. “SRAM componentry will be integral to the success of this yacht.”

SRAM has 35 years of experience working with high-performing teams, and we’re excited to be collaborating and pushing the boundaries in our pursuit to win the 37th America’s Cup,” said Terry Hutchinson, Skipper and President of Sailing Operations for NYYC American Magic.
