With an expected launch date of October 18th, it’s not long before we’ll see all the official details of Specialized’s Globe bike brand . Intended as a simple, fun lineup to get people out of cars and onto bicycles for their commutes and errands, this first model looks like it has all the right features to do just that.
Called the Globe Haul, it’s a short (165cm long) bike sitting on 20×3.5(ish) tires delightfully called “Carless Whisper”. Tons of mounting points will allow for all manner of accessories, baskets, and cages to be attached. Front and rear lights and full coverage fenders provide a great starting point for getting rolling.
It’s a hub motor design, which suggests pricing will be much more affordable than their mid-motor Turbo line. But that heat sink-equipped box underneath the cranks suggests it’ll be a more sophisticated system than budget e-bikes that pump full power at the first movement of the crank (which can be unsafe for inexperienced riders).
Check out the first teaser post to see one of these fully decked out , and check back on 10/18 for the (expected) full launch.
