Jaipur: Out on a mission to promote art and culture along with physical and mental well being, Padma Shri award winner, professor-emeritus at IIT-Delhi Dr Kiran Seth is on a cycling expedition to spread awareness.
“The aim is to promote our culture and heritage. I feel cycling is a great as well as a fashionable way to attract and engage youth and society at large towards its positive impact on our health and environment, along with making it a medium to talk about the nation’s art and culture,” said Seth, who is also a founder of Spic Macay (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth).
It was on March 12 that he started from Delhi and is currently in Jaipur. The next destination will be Ajmer, followed by Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, before ending the ride in Ahmedabad, if everything falls in place. It is a curtain raiser to the ‘Cycle with Spic Macay’ event before taking up on a longer trip from Srinagar to Kanyakumari starting from August 15.
“While on the move one connects with so many people and these interactions give you a chance to talk about our rich heritage. Also, cycling is not just about physical exercise, it helps you in your mental and most importantly, spiritual growth,” Seth said.
