Salida’s awaited Bike Skills Park will have its grand opening at 1:00 p.m. this Friday, December 6. The park is at the F Street Trailhead.
The Salida Bike Skills Park, organized by Salida Mountain Trails, provides an “in” for those who want to start mountain biking; giving them trails that support skill building that are literally down to earth. All trails at the Bike Skills Park are open to the public, restricted to bike travel only, and downhill.
The first phase of the project has been completed, which comes with a beginner and an intermediate track. A second phase with more advanced trails is planned for 2025.
Salida Mountain Trails (SMT) is dedicated to creating a system and map for the trails around and beyond Tenderfoot Hill. They also manage all trails, including the ones they’ve made themselves. SMT has been working on the Bike Skills Park since August of this year.
