It appears that India-based Royal Enfield is not quite done with its air/oil-cooled Himalayan platform just yet. Despite introducing a new liquid-cooled version of that adventure bike in 2023 (see our review of the machine here ), the older air-cooled Himalayan engine will live on in a new version of the Scram.

You might remember the Scram 411 was the scramblerized take on the OG Himalayan, with the same engine and a mostly-identical chassis. The wheels were different (the Scram had a 19-17 wheelset), but overall, it was pretty much the same idea. In July, Royal Enfield confirmed the Guerilla 450 scrambler based off the Himalayan 450, and we assumed that was the end of the Scram series, and the end of the 410 engine platform.

Wrong! In India in recent days, Royal Enfield has been showing off a new version of that 410 engine, big-bored to 440cc and installed in what appears to be a new Scram 440 model.

This bike was apparently displayed at a recent India-market bike show, Motoverse. The Indian moto-media has been talking about it since, with several videos appearing on YouTube, showing the new bike. If we can believe the reports from India, the Scram 440 actually features a beefed-up chassis from the outgoing Himalayan/Scram setup (a tougher subframe and stronger front brake). It will have a 19-17 wheelset, with both spoked wheels and cast rims available.

Despite going up about 30cc in displacement, the Indian press says the new bike is only rated for about 25hp […]
