The highly anticipated clash between national senior champion Jerome Forrest and arch-rival Barenton Bailey failed to materialise at the Elevation Cycling Club Development Race Meet staged at the Portmore Mall Roundabout on Sunday.
Forrest suffered a fall from his bike while Bailey could not match the pace led by Andrew Ramsay who won the Elite 1-2 category, the main feature of the day.
Ramsay finished ahead of Shaquille Sinclair, while Bradley McFarlane was third.
In the 3-5 Elite Category, featuring recreational riders, Jason King topped the field, staving off challenges from Raghini Stephenson who finished second and third-placed Damion Needham.
National junior champion Jaequan Dixon, who recently recovered from the flu, had to settle for third in the junior category. The category was won by Dixon’s club mate Peter Robinson who was first across the finish line ahead of Damaine Douglas.
Robinson and Dixon registered the only podium finish on the day for Old Harbour-based Elevation Cycling Club.
In the female category, comprising two competitors, Melaika Russell beat Jardanio James to the tape in a keenly contested duel.Adrian Clarke secured the Masters title, as he got the better of Donald Hall and Mark Henry.The Super Masters was won by Ashek Hall who beat back the challenge of Kirkland Howell and Marington Hall.
