The Road Safety Centre welcomed some special guests earlier this week when the Ineos Grenadiers Men’s cycling team dropped by to talk cycle safety.

The team, who includes 2018 Tour de France winner, Geraint Thomas and current Australian Road Race champ, Luke Plapp, know a thing or two about cycling.

Arriving in their distinctive bright orange training kit, the team chatted with kids about the importance of wearing bright clothes when riding their bikes.

If you’re planning on heading out on bike with the family to see the team compete in the Tour Down Under over the coming days please remember these cycle safety tips: Wear bright colours so you can be easily seen.

Make sure your bike is in good working order, with tyres inflated and a working warning device such as a bell.

Wear an approved helmet that fits to your head.

Keep as close as practical to the left side of the road or stick to bike paths. Follow the road rules. The mock roadway, located at the Road Safety Centre, is available for community use on weekends and after 2.30 pm on weekdays (including school holidays) and is a great place to teach kids how to ride safely.Learn more about cycle safety by visiting: http://bit.ly/3kj7K2Z
