SRVUSD Ebikes New school safety video features Danville Police Chief Allan Shields and Diablo Vista Middle School Principal Jeff Osborn.

In San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD), e-bikes and scooters have risen in popularity as a method of transportation for students’ to get to-and-from school. School officials anticipate many students will return to school in January with new riding equipment. Since these vehicles can travel at higher speeds than traditional bikes, e-bikes and scooters require extra caution, and riders must follow the laws and rules of the road. The district has created new resources for the safety of all student riders, drivers, and pedestrians.

Local police agencies have partnered with SRVUSD to share the importance of traffic safety. Principal Jeff Osborn of Diablo Vista Middle School met with Chief Shields from the Danville Police Department to discuss multiple safety topics, including e-scooters, e-bikes, pedestrian safety, and tips for the safe shared use of the Iron Horse Trail. All community members are encouraged to watch the new SRVUSD E-Bike and Scooter Safety Video .

The new SRVUSD At-a-Glance Summary Safety Chart provides students and parents with important information about bikes, e-bikes, and scooters.

“The safety and well-being of our students is a top priority,” said Dr. John Malloy, Superintendent, San Ramon Valley Unified School District. “We encourage all parents and students to watch our E-Bike and Scooter Safety video so that all are well-informed, and our students, riders, pedestrians, and drivers can stay safe.”
