“It was really great. We did a perfect job throughout the week. I’m super happy with my shape and with the shape of the team,” Pogačar said after the stage.

“With the result, I’m maybe a little bit surprised, but I knew that my level is good. In this race, I felt really strong, and I hope I can feel as strong in the next races. Just to continue the season [as it has been] until now.”

The UAE Team Emirates tried to make it five wins in five stages by delivering Alessandro Covi to a perfect position. That provided the fans with an unusual sight of Tadej Pogačar leading the peloton and his team with 3 km to go. However, despite the great lead-out, it wasn’t meant to be for Covi. Omar Fraile (Ineos Grenadiers) accelerated down the finish flat and claimed his first win since the Spanish national title in 2021. Vuelta a Andalucia results
