Reason for Cycling: I started cycling as cross-training for running , and once I had a taste of cycling, I never looked back.

For many years, I found myself sitting behind a desk, not working out, and making poor food choices. I have three kids, so they kept me active, but all the extra weight was taking a toll on my body. I was in pain all the time; I got to the point that tying my shoes was a chore, and I would have to take breaks when at the mall or playing in the yard because my legs hurt so badly. I just became tired of saying “I really should do something.”

In 2014, I decided to try running, but I tore my calf muscle. A sports doctor said my legs had so much scar tissue that I would never be an endurance athlete. (Boy were they wrong!) But at the time, I was so down, and I let another year pass before I tried running again.

When I started running again in the late fall of 2015, I thought it might help to cross-train by cycling. So I bought a bike, and after my first ride, I knew it was game over for running.
