Pedaling for Parkinson’s will return to Summerside for its inaugural Maritime event on Sept. 24 and Sept 25. Facebook Photo SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — For the second year in a row cyclists from across Canada will travel to Summerside on Sept. 24 to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease.

The inaugural Maritime Pedaling for Parkinson’s event will start and finish the Credit Union Place travelling along the Confederation Trail, on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25, with rides varying in distance each day.

Since its inception in 2011, Pedaling for Parkinson’s has funded 20 research projects through more than $1.9 million in contributions to Parkinson’s Canada, in addition to funding support tools and advocacy for people living with Parkinson’s.

“Pedaling for Parkinson’s brings together communities not only to raise funds for advances in research and supports for Canadians living with Parkinson’s,” said Parkinson Canada director of events Scott McMillan.

“It brings families and friends together to raise awareness of the fastest growing neurological disease in the world.”

On Sept. 24, riders will explore the trail west of Summerside and on Sept. 25, cyclists will head east of the city on the Confederation Trail.
