The speed limit at the Woods Hole end of the Shining Sea Bikeway is posted at 15 mph. The plan to ban Class 2 e-bikes and other self-propelled personal vehicles on the Shining Sea Bikeway has come to a dead-end. Town counsel has advised the Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee that the town should not institute an outright ban on the vehicles.
In November, the bicycle and pedestrian committee voted to pursue a ban on personal transport vehicles that do not require the rider to pedal or otherwise push the vehicle. That would include banning fully motorized e-bikes and personal vehicles like electric skateboards on the bikeway.
