Magura has paired their MT7 brakes with the Loic Bruni-designed HC-W lever blade and packaged them for the North and South American markets. Offering a flatter blade shape, they’re designed by the 6x DH World Champion (and 2x DH World Cup Champion) to enhance leverage and control. Check out the prototypes here from his original testing.

The master cylinder uses their Carbotecture composite construction, and the HC-W lever is alloy with adjustable reach. It has a flip-flop easy bleed design, so the same lever body works for left or right.

The caliper is a single-piece, monobloc design that uses three arches to maximize stiffness. The four-piston calipers use four individual pads. Magura offers three different lever shapes, with a customization program should you want to swap them out later. They are:

Bruni isn’t the only collaboration they’ve done, Fabio Widmer got his signature brakes , too. Magura’s unique in the mountain bike disc brake category in that their levers’ master cylinder protrudes out from the bar, rather than run inline with the cable. This puts the pivot point further from the bar, and the result is that the tip of the brake lever tends to swing inward toward the bar more, creating a more dramatic outward slope under full braking. Hence the more unique lever shaping and options. The MT7 HC-W brakes come with 2,200mm hose lengths and weigh in at 268g per wheel. MSRP is $269 each. MaguraUSA.com
