Limar introduces its new aero TT bucket with two key focal points: wattage savings over the previous iteration and wind tunnel testing by pros.

The Italian brand says the new iteration of its time trial-specific Air King helmet saves a not inconsiderable 5-8 watts over its predecessor. Vincenzo Nibali and David De la Cruz helped confirm that by wearing it in wind tunnel tests at Milan’s Newton laboratory. The team doesn’t share what you’d call groundbreaking information in the video. But Limar said the “evolution” it gave the Air King sets a new standard for the brand.

“The athlete works on every detail to improve his performance, that is why the shape of the new Air King Evo has been molded on the athlete’s body, becoming an aerodynamic whole that has exceeded all the goals previously achieved,” Limar said.

The helmet gets a similar vent setup to the previous generation’s: three longitudinal vents channeling toward a sizeable rear exhaust. The visor still attaches magnetically, and an anti-fog system helps keep the view ahead clear.

It even weighs precisely the same as the old variant ( which we first glimpsed back in 2018 ) and comes in the same two sizes. A significant re-shape may lead the way in terms of the energy savings.
