Today’s World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) through London sent some parents into a frenzy Hoards of Londoners who stripped off to cycle naked through the city centre today have sparked all sorts of responses from onlookers, from horror to hysterics. The annual World Naked Bike Ride kicked off at 11am this morning (Saturday, June 11) with routes beginning in nine different places across London, including as far south as Croydon and as far east as Victoria Park.

Organised by World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR), the goal of the event is to protest against the global dependency on oil, "curb car culture" and celebrate body freedom. But most bystanders watching the naked ride today seemed too distracted by the unabashed levels of nudity to be thinking too much about the deeper meaning behind the ride.

One frenzied mum took to Twitter to announce that her children had been horror-struck by the sight of the ride, and to complain that she herself would probably lose sleep over it too, telling her followers: "OMG we saw the naked bike ride, all ages, all sexes, my girls are scared for life, in fact I won’t sleep tonight."

But she wasn’t the only one to be worried about children seeing the bare-bummed bicyclists. Aunties and Uncles out for day trips with their siblings’ kids also fought furiously to shield the eyes of their toddler charges, with one woman protesting: "IM WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD NEICE AND THERES A F**KING NAKED BIKE RIDE GOING ON HUHHHHHHHHH."
