BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Safety Place , the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, and Yoga Noir got the community together for the Bike Ride and Yoga Session at the Youth City Lab Saturday.
“Biking is said to help reduce stress and be a positive factor for your mental health, so is yoga,” The Safety Place CEO Crystal Pichon said.
“Where we teach kids, biking, confidence, how to bike safely through their community and what safety gear to wear,” Pichon said of the group’s mission.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and members of the Baton Rouge Police Department strapped on their helmets for a good cause. EBRSO Corporal Kade Babin says that Saturday’s event is to promote safety, safe cycling, good health habits, and to have a good time with the community.
He says bike safety precautions reduces the risk of crashes and injuries.
Nicole Callac, a bike rider for over 15 years, says she is all about supporting healthy habits.
“I like to support anything, that encourages community, bike riding, and especially safe bike riding,” Callac said.She’s even been taking safety measures into her own hands the last few years. She says that Baton Rouge is a big bike-riding community.EBRSO deputies, BRPD officers, and the community peddled over three miles around the Mid-City area.
