Cyclists are leaving from one of their stop-over points during their journey to Bela Bela. Sixty-seven cyclists rode 160km from Edenvale to Bela-Bela in the annual KIA Bela-Bela Outride. The group was comprised of members and guests of Edenglen Cycling Club. Some of the cyclists on their way to the Klein Kariba resort where there 160km journey ended. Held on January 22, the event is described by club chairperson Angela de Longchamps as a highlight of the year.

De Longchamps said about 40 cyclists from groups A and B left their home base, Malagueta Mediterranean Family Restaurant. They were accompanied by their key sponsor KIA which provided vehicles to ensure food, drinks, first aid and safety were available. Cyclists are leaving from one of their stop-over points during their journey to Bela Bela. The C group followed with another KIA Sedona providing the flashing lights and rear protection warning other road users of the cyclists ahead.

De Longchamps said the two groups of riders met up after 80km for refreshments and a photo break before tackling another 40km to their second stop. Some of the 67 cyclists who rode 160 km from Edenvale to Bela Bela. “The last 40km, with a gentle uphill, headwind and 35-degree heat, was the most challenging of the whole ride,” said De Longchamps “Although there were plenty of sore bums and tired legs, all the cyclists arrived safely at Klein Kariba resort for a relaxed afternoon braai, beers and chatting under the Ridgeway Cycles gazebo.” Edenglen […]
