Pearl Izumi has just combined one of its most popular, all-around layers with sustainable upcycling practices in the Limited Edition Upcycled Summit Barrier Jacket.

The jacket, which Pearl Izumi describes as light, packable, and resilient, uses leftover fabric to reduce waste and environmental impact. By keeping scrap materials out of the landfill with its Limited Edition Upcycled Collection, the brand aims to achieve net-positive sustainability by 2025.

Our favorite thing about the new version? The throwback windbreaker color . Upcycled Summit Barrier Jacket

Available in retro color-block or plain black, the sustainable Summit Barrier folds away into the chest pocket and compresses down enough to fit within a hip or downtube pack.

But Pearl Izumi indicates that doesn’t detract from the jacket’s robust protection against the wind. The ultralight ripstop fabric is what gives the jacket the “barrier” in its name, as it holds off wind and light precipitation.

The three-piece hood construction is large enough to fit comfortably around a helmet but snug enough to stay in place. The full-length zipper makes it easy to throw on in a flash. Summit Barrier Jacket features

Constructed from 100% polyester ultra-light Ripstop fabric Windproof, water-resistant Durable water repellent (DWR) coating Made from upcycled material Full-length zipper Zippered chest pocket Hood-over-helmet design Relaxed fit Availability, Purchasing The limited run of upcycled Summit Barrier jacket ($85 MSRP) is available in sizes S-XXL.
