The LeMond graphics are bold and proudly displayed. For good reason. (Photo: LeMond) Greg LeMond changed cycling forever. Before the Californian’s first Tour de France win in 1986, the assumption was that Europeans would forever dominate road racing.
LeMond proved the European traditionalists wrong, eventually winning three Tour de France titles. His most famous of these was an outrageous win 1989. LeMond entered the final stage with an 8-second deficit and won – on the streets of Paris.
The symbolism of that of ‘8-second’ win now becomes an integral part of the great American’s riding legacy, as his eponymous bike model has been revealed as the LeMond 8.
