The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway will partner again with Pocono Biking in 2025 to offer its popular Bike Trains on select weekends in spring and summer.

A staple of the railway’s schedule for more than a decade, the Bike Trains provide a unique way for visitors to explore the region. Cyclists of all ages and skill levels bring their bikes to Jim Thorpe Station to ride the 25-mile Delaware & Lehigh Trail from White Haven back to Jim Thorpe.

Bikes are securely loaded onto designated railcars at the front of the train, while passengers ride in standard coaches northbound through Lehigh Gorge State Park.

Upon arrival in White Haven, railway staff assist passengers in retrieving their bikes before they begin the scenic, downhill ride back to Jim Thorpe.

Along the route, cyclists encounter canal remnants, scenic overlooks, rock formations, wildlife, and railroad trestles.

For those without a bike, Pocono Biking offers a limited number of rentals for Bike Train weekends.

Passengers receive rental bikes upon arrival in White Haven and return them to Pocono Biking’s location near the Jim Thorpe ticket booth.“Experience the Lehigh Gorge State Park from two incredible perspectives — first by train, then by bike,” said Nikki Hurley, marketing director at Pocono Biking. “This journey through history and nature offers an unforgettable way to take in the region’s breathtaking landscapes. With bike rentals from Pocono Biking, exploring the D&L Trail has never been easier.”Round-trip and cab ride optionsFor those seeking a longer train ride, round-trip tickets from Jim Thorpe to White Haven […]
