Stanton was a sponsor of the women’s CiCLE Classic, part of British Cycling’s National Road series A leading sponsor has withdrawn funding from a British Cycling race in protest at the governing body’s decision to suspend its transgender policy.

Peter Stanton, a key benefactor of the women’s CiCLE Classic, which is part of British Cycling’s National Road series, said that he would be letting down his many friends and colleagues in the trans community, “If I did not make a stand to show my support for their rights.”
