The route of Giro d’Italia 2024 was presented at a remarkable reveal event in the Teatro Sociale in Trento in northern Italy on October 13.
The event started with a best-of summary of this year’s Giro d’Italia, which featured exciting battles between the cyclists in the peloton and was led by Geraint Thomas until the penultimate stage – an individual time trial that was won by Primoz Roglic, who thereby also secured a spot on the top step of the GC podium in Rome.
Italian cycling legend Vincenzo Nibali was invited onto the stage to help present the route of next year’s race. Nibali won the 2013 and 2016 editions of the Giro.
As previously announced, the Giro d’Italia 2024 will commence in Venaria Reale in Piemonte on May 4. The Piemonte region will host the first three stages of next year’s Giro d’Italia and the territory will be very varied and offer opportunities for all types of riders in the Giro peloton.
Race organizer RCS Sport has chosen to expose the riders to significant challenges from the beginning, so all general classification hopefuls will need to arrive at the start in great shape.
