Business up front, party in the back! While it’s never been the best recipe for hair, it seems to be working for a lot of mountain bikers. As more and more riders are showing an interest in mixed wheel setups, Forbidden Bike Co. has released a complete Druid that boasts a mullet build right out of the box. Forbidden’s Druids were designed around 29” wheels, but as the mixed-wheel trend grew the company quickly hopped on board: Just over a year ago Bikerumor covered the Ziggy Link when it was introduced as a mullet conversion kit for the Druids (FYI – it also works for Forbidden’s new Dreadnought frames).
Replacing the rear suspension’s lower link, the Ziggy Link doesn’t just allow the smaller rear wheel to fit the frame while retaining the same geometry – Forbidden decided the link should alter the frame geo to best suit the mixed wheel setup. Accordingly, the Ziggy Link drops the Druid’s BB by 4mm and slackens the head tube angle by 0.5°.
While they adjusted the bike’s geometry, Forbidden designed the Ziggy Link so it does not change the suspension kinematics. Riders should enjoy the same suspension feel and ride qualities through the bike’s 130mm travel whether they’re running a 29” or 27.5” wheel out back.
The GX Druid Ziggy Edition will be sold with one complete mid-level build spec. See the chart for all the details but some highlights include a Shimano GX drivetrain, SRAM G2 RSC 4-piston brakes, Crankbrothers Synthesis Enduro alloy wheels, […]
