The Loop in Dubai is planned to be a 93 km closed green highway for cycling and walking Dubai ‘s THE LOOP is an innovative and sustainable 93 km urban highway designed to connect over 3 million residents through healthy modes of transportation such as walking and cycling. This project, developed by URB – a global leader in sustainable cities, is aligned with Dubai’s goal of becoming a 20-minute city where residents can access their daily needs and destinations within 20 minutes by foot or bike.
THE LOOP will provide a climate-controlled environment all year round, making cycling and walking the primary mode of transportation for more than 80 percent of Dubai’s residents by 2040. The CEO of URB, Baharash Bagherian, highlights how THE LOOP embodies the entrepreneurial spirit in urban mobility and aims to make Dubai the most connected city in the world through walking and cycling.
There is currently a lack of integration between cycling and public urban transportation, and THE LOOP intends to address this issue. The project will be a paradigm shift from car-centric infrastructure to people-centric infrastructure, making urban mobility a joyful and healthy experience for residents.
