Droitwich Leisure Centre manager Tim Kirkham met with the mayor of Droitwich, George Duffy, to discuss the potential of building a small pump track A potential new cycling track in Droitwich has hit a stumbling block

Hundreds of people have signed a petition to see a pump track built in the town.

However, the Mayor of Droitwich, Councillor George Duffy, says there is one issue, they can’t find anywhere to put it.

He said: “We have been looking at building the pump track in many forms at a lot of sites in Droitwich, each with their own challenges, so it can be disheartening when some plans do not pan out but seeing people continue to support the goal keeps us going.” A similar project was recently completed in Wychbold Last month, councillor Duffy met with the manager of Droitwich Leisure Centre, Tim Kirkham, to discuss the idea.

Mr Kirkham said: “It’s not a grand scheme yet but we were looking at building some smaller jumps for the youngsters and beginners, which will hopefully lead on to bigger and better things

“This is something I know George is passionate about and there’s a group campaigning for the pump track who I have had several meetings with.

“We have lots of space to work with so we will, and always have, worked well with the town council and Wychavon District Council and support them if we can.”A petition started by Martin Maycroft, who grew up in the town, so far has 591 signatures.Councillor Duffy is keen for […]
