A 5K fun run and walk is being planned to support Cycling Without Age Seneca County, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

The organization allows the elderly and those with mobility issues the chance to enjoy the wind in their hair by receiving rides on trishaws.

The Wind in Your Hair 5K Fun Run and Walk is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. April 9 at Hedges-Boyer Park, 491 Coe St., Tiffin. Day-of registration and t-shirt pickup begin at 8:30 a.m. at the shelter by Tiffin’s YMCA.

Registration is under way at runsignup.com or by printing a form from the organization’s Facebook page.

The race entry is $20 through March 9, and $25 after March 9 and is non-refundable.

Those registering by March 9 will be guaranteed a t-shirt. Goodie bags will be available to the first 100 registrants.

Cycling Without Age started in Copenhagen, Denmark. Ole Kassow started the Cycling Without Age movement in 2012 and began offering free bike rides to local nursing home residents. Cycling Without Age now is represented in 52 countries, with 2,700 chapter locations, 3,700 trishaws, 35,000 trained cycle pilots and more than 2.5 million people served, a release from the local group states.The organization is made up of volunteers who assist elderly citizens and those with limited mobility to enjoy life by being able to travel by bicycle as many had done in their youth, it states.There are two trishaws in Seneca County — one owned by and housed at Seneca County Opportunity Center, and one owned by the Cycling Without […]
