Some sections of Millertown Road are about the same width as a bike path. Millertown Road, 2.3 miles of cycling fun, runs north/south between Wise and Mt. Vernon roads.

You must ride your bike 14 to 15 miles from McBean Park to find it.

In some places, Millertown Road is no wider than a bike path, most of it is shady year round, with a cheerful creek (it’s actually the North Canal) running beside it.

Spring daffodils and huge berry bushes add to the taste and color.

If you are heading north, there’s that pesky 18-percent bump about halfway up, plus a few more places to elevate your heart rate.

If you are heading south, mind your speed.

Blind curves, some bumpy asphalt and maybe a garbage truck taking up the entire road coming your way on a curve (just sayin’) will keep you on the edge of your saddle. Tom Frady is a Lincoln resident and avid cyclist and driver.
