In 2018 I was diagnosed with severe depression. In my first counselling session I was tasked with finding one single thing I could do to help get outside. I chose cycling.

Fast forward 4 years and I am well along the road to recovery. Currently serving as a teacher in a primary school, my first goal is to train to deliver cycling lessons to children through Cycling UK.

Building on this, my enjoyment for cycling and a deeper understanding of mental health and personality disorders has led me to use my enjoyment of cycling to help others.

My aim is to take part in UK-wide fundraising cycle rides, beginning small and eventually increasing in challenge and distance. My target charities will initially be MIND and Samaritans.

Achieving something like this requires some level of appropriate equipment, especially when taking the riding off road instead of on the streets.

My funding request is for equipment and training that will help me towards my 2023 charity cycle rides. This equipment includes a new helmet, clothing, lights, alternative tyres, backpacks with drink bladders and mountain bike training courses with coaches from Cyclopark in Kent.
