Earning podium finishes for the Rice Lake mountain biking team at Sunday’s race at Nordic Mountain were (from left): Bodi Mullen Jack Grundin, Norah Panasuk, Dorothy Grundin, Gavin Stanley and Quinn Ebner. In its fourth race of the year the Rice Lake mountain bike team placed fifth at Sunday’s event at Nordic Mountain in Wild Rose.

There were a team record six earning podium finishes, including a first place finish for Quinn Ebner among eighth grade boys and a title for Gavin Stanley in the JV3 Division 2 race.

Jack Grundin finished third in his JV2 Division 1 race, which moved him into the overall points leader for the season as he earns the leader’s jersey for the next race. Taking fifth in the same race was Bodi Mullen.

For varsity boys Djanko Shuler-Masci was 13th, Davin Stenseth 15th and Ryan Schmidt 16th. Other boys results include Garrison Dietz in 11th for JV2 Division 1, Coltin Fenstermacher in 14th for JV2 Division 2, Thorfin Moe 15th for eighth graders and Nathan Jondreau, who battled back after a crash to take 15th for eight grade competitors. Other girls results include Graycin Miller placing 16th for eighth graders.

The mountain biking team returns to action for the Wisconsin Cycling League state championship at Trek Trails in Waterloo on Oct. 23.
