Every year, at Thanksgiving-time, GObike Buffalo hosts a group ride, where cyclists scavenge the city in search of groceries for those in need. This year (later today, in fact), 150 cyclists will take to the streets, to buy groceries that will benefit Food Not Bombs and Provisions 139 from West Side Community Services. Their collective goal is to break the record set in 2022 of 1,137 lbs of food. The goal for 2023 is 1,200 lbs of food!

The annual Cranksgiving event encourages cyclists to dress up and have fun, while checking off their grocery lists. Teams can win prizes for accomplishing their tasks in the shortest times, or sourcing the most groceries. They are also rewarded for best costumes and best team names.

“[It’s] not a fundraiser for any organization, this is all about the ride and the food. People dressed as turkeys will be in different areas of the city trying not to be captured for a checkpoint!” – GObike Buffalo Stay Informed with Buffalo Rising
