Austin Beard made it two-for-two for Colorado Mesa in the Collegiate Varsity individual races. After Maddie Munro took the women’s title ahead of teammate Katie Clouse , Beard added maximum points to his school’s score with a win in the Men’s Collegiate Varsity race at the 2022 Cyclocross Nationals in Hartford.
Owen Clark (Brevard) finished second, while Daxton Mock made it another two on the podium for CMU. The varsity field was large, at 57 starters, almost exactly the same as the last Hartford Collegiate Men’s Varsity race in 2017 .
In the Collegiate Club race, cyclocross pro Lance Haidet (California Polytechnic – San Luis Obispo), fresh off a narrow loss to Tobin Ortenblad at California’s Cross Infestation , took the Nationals win, 13 seconds ahead of Dillon McNeill (University of Nebraska – Lincoln).
