BV Racing kicked off their season in Leadville on Saturday, Aug. 24, with seven racers representing Buena Vista High School.
Sophomores Dilon Roberts, Brady Young, Nikolaus Burton, Eamon Doherty and Rubin Furay, junior Rinnen Borton and freshman Ryder Moore took on the course.
“Only three of those racers were with the team last year. The rest are new to the team,” said coach Marissa Roberts. “We have a total of 12 riders on our team this year, and eight are new to our team this year.”
Buena Vista placed 11th in their division, with Roberts placing 21st in sophomore boys and Borton placing 25th in the JV girls race.
“The first race was an exciting start to the season,” Roberts said. “The racers were up for the challenge! They put in a lot of hard work over the last month to get here and it showed. I am proud of every one of them that raced Saturday.”
Moore placed 34th in the freshman race, and the rest of the team placed in the lower 50s for the sophomore race.
