Boise Bike Project gives over 500 dream bikes to local kids (CBS2) Boise, ID (CBS2) — The Boise Bike Project held its annual Holiday Kids Bike Giveaway on Saturday.

The Holiday Kids Bike Giveaway started in 2007 and this year on Dec.16. 500 lucky kids will receive their dream bikes.

The giveaway starts with referral partners such as nonprofits, charities, government organizations, and after-school programs that work with families in need.

The kids get to draw a picture of their "dream bike" along with a story and Boise Bike Project collects donated bikes from the community to fix up and customize to match the dream bikes in the drawings.

If you would like to help you can "adopt" a dream bike by covering the cost of the "dreamification" process.

When the kids receive their bikes this year they will also get warm clothes, warm food and drinks, a bike lock, and a helmet.
